No Duality in Unity

Every Sunday we affirm the Oneness of Spirit with our Statement of Faith, declaring there is only One Presence and Power in the universe and in our life....God. Do we with absolute knowing realize and express that Truth?  For most of us, probably not so much.  An absolute realization of this Truth, is the growing edge of our faith, the ideal which remains apart from our deepest understanding and moment to moment awareness.

Yet this is what Unity teaches. Charles Fillmore said it plainly, There is no duality in God.[1] It is what we believe Jesus and other Awakened Beings have proclaimed as the one inviolable, nonnegotiable Truth of Life.

What is nonduality? This definition from scienceandnonduality.com says it very well:

Nonduality is the philosophical, spiritual, and scientific understanding of non-separation and fundamental intrinsic oneness. For thousands of years, through deep inner inquiry, philosophers and sages have come to the realization that there is only one substance and we are therefore all part of it. This substance can be called Awareness, Consciousness, Spirit, Advaita, Brahman, Tao, Nirvana or even God. It is constant, ever present, unchangeable and is the essence of all existence.

The surface mind that tries to reconcile this truth with the phenomenal world and the sensory data that predominates its perceptions, cannot grasp such a notion of Absolute nondual Oneness.  It hears the words but the translation becomes something more along the lines of, "I am not God. I am something different and separate from God.' When we believe there is God and our separate self, we are in a dualistic belief system.

Jesus declared that Spirit is "closer than our breath", that this Reality which he called the Kingdom of Heaven, was within us.  For us to believe ourselves separate from God is not only contrary to Jesus' and Unity's teachings but literally impossible.  Just as a wave cannot be apart from the ocean, nor a sunbeam separate from the sun, we cannot be apart from the allness of God.

This Sunday we will receive wonderfully inspiring and powerful nondual teaching presentations from our guest speaker, presenter, Rev. Linda Martella-Whitsett. She will share the Sunday message and offer workshops on the Divine Powers within and Empowering Affirmative Prayer. If you want to know what the heart of Unity teachings are all about, you don't want to miss hearing these powerful teachings.

I'll be there soaking in the inspiration right along with you! Deepening our spiritual understanding with pure Truth is like soaking in a Spiritual Bath. It feels good, through and through.

Blessings
Rev.Larry
